About OTW & AO3
The Organization for Transformative Works (OTW) is a non-profit, fan-run place which strives to provide access to and preserve the history of fan culture in its various forms.
The Archive of Our Own (AO3) is focused on fan 'works' (including vids). OTW's Fan Video and Multimedia is a great resource for vidding related information.
We held an auction in 2010 to help raise funds for AO3. We raised over $1800
AO3 Vid Exchange
FANDOM NOMINATIONS: July 10th - July 20th
VIDDER SIGNUPS: July 21st - July 31st
VIDS DUE: September 30th
FANDOM NOMINATIONS: You may nominate to up six (6) fandoms that you'd like to see included in the exchange. Nominating fandoms does not obligate you to participate in the exchange. Nominated fandoms can be large or small, please consider how accessible the source material is for vidders when nominating fandoms. ONLY FANDOMS NOMINATED WILL BE AVAILABLE DURING SIGNUPS
VIDDER SIGNUPS: We will be using AO3's collection/challenge feature for sign ups. Participants will choose a number of fandoms they want to receive and a number of fandoms they are willing to offer. When signups are complete, we (me and AO3) will match participants (*crosses fingers*)
Matches will be made on fandom only. There will be space to include notes about character/ship/music/etc preferences, and we'll have a place for Dear Vidder notes, but vidders are under no obligation to meet those requirements. They are optional.
VIDS DUE: Vids should be at least 1 minute in length and reflect one of the fandoms requested by your recipient (you may vid to one other than what you matched on if you'd like). Your recipient may have outlined suggestions, preferences, etc but they are optional.
Vids will need to be posted under the AO3 collection by September 30th. More details on AO3 posting to come. Stay tuned!!
